Update: Design plans for the initial development of Camp Branch Steamway Trail were completed and the project was bid on October 24, 2020. Bids were rejected on November 20, 2019 due to all submitted bids exceeding the engineer’s cost estimate. Staff are evaluating alternatives to complete the project within budget. The trail development is planned to take place along Camp Branch Creek from 175th Street and Mission Road, traveling north approximately 1.15 miles.

Future phases will continue north and south to include a trail connection into the future Camp Branch Park. A possible realignment that would eliminate an expensive retaining wall and utility relocation is pending acquisition of easements from the adjacent property owners. Negotiations with a key property owner for additional easement have not yet been successful. The preferred alternative is to construct an interim connection with the roadway shoulder on Mission Road until the land acquisition issues can be resolved. JCPRD staff have requested a proposal from the engineer to modify the design documents for the construction of this interim connection.
