New Health Services Building Project

A new Health Services Building is under construction in the county-owned Sunset Drive campus at 119th Street and Ridgeview Road in Olathe.

The facility will bring together county services from several different county facilities under one roof. This includes services from three county departments: Johnson County Mental Health Center, Johnson County Department of Health and Environment, and Johnson County Aging and Human Services.

Project Background

The existing Health Services Building is located at 11875 S. Sunset Drive in Olathe on the county's Sunset Drive campus. The new facility will also be located on the campus, on a site just south of the existing building.

County services provided at the existing Health Services Building, as well as the Olathe Mental Health Office, will move into this building. Additionally, some services offered at the Sunset Drive Office Building on the Sunset Drive campus will move to this facility.

The new facility will be constructed while the existing Health Services Building remains operational. It will require a phased construction approach, beginning in spring 2025 and continuing through fall 2027. Move-in will be done in two phases in 2027.

During construction, services will continue to be delivered from the existing Health Services Building and Olathe Mental Health Office. Following move-in, the existing Health Services Building will be demolished to complete the parking and remainder of the sitework for the new facility, and the Olathe Mental Health Office will also be demolished.

Johnson County is partnering with a design team comprised of two firms, Finkle and Williams Architects and Perkins & Will, and contractor McCownGordon to construct the facility.
