Historic school site schedules holiday event
The Lanesfield Historic Site, 18745 S. Dillie Road, Edgerton, is inviting residents of all ages to experience a traditional 1904 old-fashioned Christmas from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 13. It’s a free event.
Activities will include opportunities to write to Santa with pen and ink and visit the gift shop for stocking stuffers. The Edgerton Rainbow Connection Children’s Choir will perform at 1:30 pm. Santa visits from 1:45-3:30 p.m.
Crafts and free refreshments will be available.
The Lanesfield School, a National Historic Site since 1988, features a one-room limestone schoolhouse. It is the last remaining structure in the bygone town of Lanesfield. Students attended the school from 1869 until 1963 when it was closed.
The site is operated by the Johnson County Museum, a department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
