50 Plus Travel goes on the road
Residents are invited to join Johnson County Park and Recreation’s 50 Plus on the road for more adventures of history, culture and interesting characters in the upcoming March and April travel opportunities, including:
- “Irish Eyes in Kansas City” – Discover some of Kansas City’s finest spots to experience Irish culture on Friday, March 21. Start the day at Browne’s Irish Market for coffee, scones and shopping. Next, visit the Irish Center of Kansas City for a presentation and dance demonstration. Later, tour Restless Spirits Distillery and sample products. $159/ $175 nonresidents. Lunch included. Motorcoach transport.
- “The Buck Stops Here” – Tour the Truman Courthouse on Tuesday, April 8. See the courtroom that Truman used when he was a judge presiding for Jackson County. Next, shop the square and the Truman Visitor’s Center. After lunch, enjoy a self-guided tour of the Truman Presidential Library and Museum. $119/$131 nonresidents. Lunch included. Motorcoach transport.
- “A Marble-ous Memorial” – Spend the day on Friday, April 18, in Hiawatha, Kansas, touring the Davis Memorial, a collection of life-sized marble statues of John Davis and his wife Sarah at various stages in their life. The day continues with visits to several other museums, including a bridal hall and military and medical museums. $149/ $164 nonresidents. Lunch included. Motorcoach transport.
