The Kansas Silver Haired Legislature is a volunteer-based, unicameral body composed of 125 representatives aged 60 and older, elected from each of Kansas’ 105 counties.
Johnson County has six Silver Haired delegates. The KSHL serves as a platform for seniors to identify and advocate for issues pertinent to older adults.
Delegates are responsible for developing and presenting resolutions to the Kansas Legislature and the governor, testifying at hearings and engaging with their communities to gather input on senior-related issues.
The delegation was chosen in a recent election to represent the Johnson County from 2025-2027. The delegates include Mary Calhoun, Katy Hoffman, Norm Kahn, Mary Penrose, Gary Scott and Marvin Singleton.
