Time restriction removed on Johnson County bars and restaurants

Today, sitting as the Board of Public Health, the Board of County Commissioners voted to approve the removal of curfews and closing times for restaurants, bars, night clubs and other businesses licensed to sell alcohol for on-premises consumption. No other changes were made to the public health order. More information is available in this joint news release with Jackson County and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas, who took similar actions.

Other COVID-19-related items at today's BOCC meeting

During today's Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the follow action related to the pandemic:

  • Voted to continue to conduct BOCC meetings virtually through and including March 25.  
  • Accepted $18,609,765.40 in Coronavirus Relief Funding to providing rental and utility assistance to Johnson County residents and entered into an agreement with the State of Kansas’ Housing Resource Corporation for administration of the grant funds. 
  • Authorized $155,277.35 in CARES Act funding reimbursement for medical expenses to the Johnson County Consolidated Fire District #2.
