Virtual holiday celebration suggestions

Johnson County encourages all residents to stay safe during this holiday season, by following precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 – wear masks, wash hands often, stay home when you’re sick and remain physically distanced from others with whom you don’t reside.

But during the holidays, when we can’t gather together, we can still remain socially connected. Johnson County Department of Innovation and Technology recommends the following resources to enjoy virtual visits with friends and family.

  • Apple Facetime (up to 32 participants)
  • Facebook Rooms (up to 50 participants)
  • Free conference call (up to 1,000 participants)
  • Google Meet (up to 100 participants)
  • Microsoft Skype (up to 500 participants)
  • Zoom (up to 100 participants, with normally 40-minute sessions on the free version, but Zoom is offering users unlimited time through 5 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 26, and then again from 9 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30 to 5 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 2).

Check each app for additional restrictions and instructions on use.
