Johnson County residents are reminded to be sure to add an extra hour to your clocks this weekend!
Daylight Saving Time (DST) will end at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. It is recommended to change the clock before going to bed.
The Johnson County Department of Emergency Communications and Division of Emergency Management also strongly recommend changing smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarm batteries and testing the alarms.
Replacing smoke and CO alarm batteries at least once a year – preferably twice with the start and end of DST – is an effective way to reduce home fire deaths and CO poisoning. Working smoke alarms can cut the risk of dying in a home fire by nearly one-half by providing an early warning and critical extra seconds to escape.
Daylight Saving Time will “spring forward” on March 14, 2021.
