NotifyJoCo tested March 3

As a part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the county tested not only its outdoor siren system on March 3, but the county's emergency notification system, NotifyJoCo, was also tested. Those messages were sent via email, text message or by phone, depending upon the options chosen by those who have opted in the system.

In thinking about preparing for spring weather, it’s the ideal time to sign up for emergency alerts from NotifyJoCo or update information in the system.

Anyone with an interest in Johnson County can sign up for NotifyJoCo alerts using one of three easy ways:

  1. Text NOTIFYJOCO (all one word) to 888777 to instantly register for countywide alerts via text message to a mobile device. Standard text messaging rates will apply.
  2. Go to notifyjoco.org and customize alerts for up to five designated locations and select the preferred communication methods (phone, text, email). Users can also opt-in for a variety of non-emergency messages.
  3. Call 913-826-5555 to register for alerts.
