Johnson County Library will be making some upgrades and improvements to Cedar Roe Library, 5120 Cedar St., Roeland Park. The branch will be closed Oct. 27 - Dec. 29 for installation of a new roof and deep cleaning. The branch will reopen Monday, Dec. 30 at 9 a.m.
After Oct. 26, Cedar Roe patron holds will be shifted automatically to Antioch Library during the closure. Patrons may also choose to suspend holds or select another location.
No returns will be accepted at Cedar Roe during the closure. The closest branch for returns and full library service is Antioch at 8700 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Merriam. eLibrary resources are also available 24/7.
Library programs such as Storytime will be moved to other locations for the duration of the closure.
The Johnson County Library board approved $58,391 for the project as part of the ongoing implementation of the 2015 Comprehensive Library Master Plan, according to Jennifer Mahnken, the library’s associate director for branch services.
“Cedar Roe Library has been a vital fixture of Roeland Park for 50 years, and the building is in need of important repairs,” said Mahnken. “We’re glad to invest in this branch so patrons receive top service for many more years to come.”
Visit the Johnson County Library website or call the library at 913-826-4600 with any questions you may have about the closure.
