Developmental Supports hosts open interviews

Direct support professionals (DSPs) play a crucial role in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their quest to live and work in the community, rather than in institutional settings.

Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) is hosting open interviews for DSP positions from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the county administration building, 111 S. Cherry St., in Olathe.

Applicants should bring a resume and reference information with them to the event. They can expect open interviews and onsite applications. For those to whom an offer is extended, physical essential functions and TB tests will also be available.

The minimum requirements for the position include:

  1. High school diploma and one year of experience working in a human services field. Education can substitute for experience.
  2. Must have valid driver’s license with a good driving record and be able to successfully complete background screenings.
  3. Successful completion of physical essential functions test and TB test.
  4. Transportation of clients either in county vehicle or in a personal vehicle possible.

JCDS is the largest service provider in Johnson County, Kansas. They support 500 individuals each day. Approximately 300 people work at JCDS, many of whom have been with the agency for decades.
