A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the Kansas City metro area Monday, Dec. 11 until 6 p.m. Issued by the National Weather Service of Kansas City, people are advised to avoid outdoor burning, to secure trailer chains, properly extinguish cigarette butts, and avoid using any equipment which could generate sparks.
Dry relative humidity, strong northwest winds gusting to 35 mph, and very dry surface fuels, will lead to extreme fire danger across the area today. All outdoor burning should be avoided as any fires that start will be capable of rapid spread.
No other hazardous weather is expected after today.
