After closely monitoring today’s weather situation and consulting with other metro area jurisdictions, we have decided to proceed with normal operations on Monday, Dec. 16, with the following few exceptions:

  • Johnson County Meals on Wheels home-delivered meal program is cancelled, and Nutrition Centers will be closed.
  • Johnson County Human Services Catch-a-Ride program is cancelled.
  • Johnson County Mental Health Transportation Services are cancelled.

To stay up to date on the status of Johnson County Government, we encourage you to visit this website regularly, as well as follow @jocogov on Facebook and Twitter.

Do I pay a user fee if I am on a septic tank system?

No. Septic tank users do not pay the User Charge because they are not connected to the sanitary sewer system.

Is anyone exempt from paying a user fee?

Yes, anyone not connected to Johnson County Wastewater’s sanitary sewer system will not pay a User Charge.

I claimed an income tax deduction under the mill levy system. Can I continue to do so with this new wastewater billing system?

As a preliminary matter, please note that Johnson County does not provide tax advice to its customers regarding the deductibility or non-deductibility of its charges for federal or state income tax purposes, and advises customers to consult their CPA or other tax professional regarding proper treatment of such charges.

I’m a senior citizen living on a fixed income. Am I entitled to a discount?

No. Please contact the Johnson County Department of Human Services to see if you are eligible for utility assistance with this bill. That number is 913-715-6653.
