GPS data is free. For FPT software, use the following username and password: guest2, nocharge. Or click on "Obtain Free GPS data" on the right to access data via the web browser.

Data Information

Public Works maintains 30 days of GPS data on-line. As new daily files are uploaded, older day's files are removed. Please ensure any data needed is downloaded prior to its 30 day expiration date. No data may be retrieved after it is removed from the server.

Downloading Instructions after sign-up

Use of an FTP utility is recommended. However, most web browsers will work for downloading GPS data.

If an FTP utility is used
Connect to our FTP sever at ftp.jocogov.org. Use the login name and password provided by Johnson County Public Works. Do not use an "anonymous" login. Once connected the file transfer is simiar to Windows File Manager or Window Explorer. It can be as simple as point, click drag and wait.

After accessing page with web browser

After log in, the desired files are in the "dat" directory labeled by date and  may clicked on for saving locally. The use of a file compression utility such as WinZip is needed to unzip files.
Once logged in, the page may be bookmarked for easier location in the future.
