Transportation Study Northwest Corridor Study This study determined the location of a north/south route and two east/west routes for the northwest portion of Johnson County. The north/south area of study was Kill Creek/Corliss Road Corridor from K-10 Highway to 151st Street. The route is designated as a Type III Parkway with ultimate design standards up to six lanes and 150 to 200 of right-of-way. The two east/west study areas were: 1) 111th/119th Street Corridor from K-7 to Kill Creek/Corliss Road Corridor and 119th/135th Street from Kill Creek/Corliss Road Corridor to Evening Star Road. The routes are designated as a Type II Major Arterials with ultimate design standards of four to six lanes and 120 of right-of-way. The recommended alignments were New Kill Creek for the north/south corridor and 111th Street for both east/west corridors (shown on the map link). They were approved by the Board of County Commissioners in July 2002. The County has submitted an Environmental Assessment for these routes to the Kansas Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Authority for their review. These routes will be added to the Countys Comprehensive Arterial Road Network plan upon a successful completion of the Environmental Assessment. Completion of the Environmental Assessment is projected in late 2004. Southeast Corridor Study This study will determine the location of an east/west route for the southeast portion of Johnson County. The area of study will be 175th/199th Street from Mission Road to State Line. The study will be conducted with Cass County and will locate a route to connect with Johnson County in the defined area. The study goals may be modified depending on the results of the South Metro Connection and it will begin after the completion of the SMC. Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant Corridor Study This study will determine the location of a north/south route in the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant. The area of study will be Evening Star/Edgerton Road from K-10 Highway to 151st Street. It will be conducted after a development plan has been approved by the Board of County Commissioners for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant and contingent upon funding.
