Aging Services
Specialized services for older adults are provided
as part of the outpatient program. Services are available at the Mission
Office by calling 913-831-2550 or the Olathe Office at 913-782-2100. Groups
are provided for older adults at some high rise housing sites. Presentations
on topics relevant to older adults are provided at various community
locations. In addition, consultations about services are available for
family members of older adults and other agencies who work with older
adults.
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
Specialized services are provided for hearing impaired residents. Program
staff are fluent in American sign language and have a thorough understanding
of the language and culture of the deaf. Services are available to deaf
adults who manifest symptoms of a mental illness and are in need of
services to enhance their daily living and vocational goals. Services
include outpatient counseling, case management, attendant care, community
supported apartment program, vocational assistance, community education
and state coordination of mental health services to the deaf and hard
of hearing. Services are available by calling the Olathe Office at 913-782-2100.
Forensic Services Unit
This unit is divided into the Sexual Abuse Team and the Corrections
Team. The Sexual Abuse Team offers specialized services to offenders
and victims of child sexual abuse and their families. Treatment is long
term, generally two to three years. This program is operated in cooperation
with the District Attorney's Office and the SRS area office. The Corrections
Team offers specialized programs for offenders and works in cooperation
with the Johnson County Court, Court Services, District Attorney's Office,
Community Corrections, and Detention Centers. Services include psychological
testing, crisis intervention, group therapy and staff training.
