Current Status

Introduction

The 2002 Addendum to the Information Technology Strategic Plan reviews the current status of strategic initiatives in process, recommends changes to initiatives where appropriate, and suggests new strategic initiatives that should be incorporated in the plan.

This annual review of the overall strategic technology direction and adjustment to the plan are necessary to ensure the plan addresses Johnson County’s current and future technology needs.

In Process

Throughout 2001, Information Technology Services continued to implement projects and processes that support or address current initiatives.  This table provides the current status of initiatives in process.

All departments except Med Act will participate in the Windows 2000 Active Directory Project.  All departments except Parks and Recreation will participate in the LGFS/Genesys Replacement Project.  The Microsoft Enterprise Agreement Contract also supports centralized support.  ITS has also begun providing services for several “new” departments.

Document Imaging

Final report received from Wordtech.  Next steps include obtaining funding for pilots and issuing an RFP.

Disaster Plan for Data Center

Project

Plan developed, implemented, and periodically tested

The RFP for gas suppression in the Data Center is in process.  Disaster Recovery Plan creation is a 2002 goal.  No funding received for 2002.

VPN in test now.  Developing process to formalize R&D efforts.  Voice XML and Wireless are possibilities for 2002.
