Why does it appear there are no community centers in Johnson County?
Actually, a good number of municipalities within the County have developed and are operating their own community centers. Following is a list of the cities operating community centers and their locations

Overland Park: Matt Ross Community Center 8101 Marty St.
Overland Park: Tomahawk Ridge Community Center 11902 Lowell
Prairie Village: Prairie Village Community Center 7720 Mission Rd.
Roeland Park: Roeland Park Community Center 4843 Rosewood
Shawnee: Shawnee Civic Center 13817 Johnson Dr.
Spring Hill: Spring Hill Community Center 613 South Race
The Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD) currently works cooperatively with several of the municipalities and provides programming at those facilities. Additionally, JCPRD’s master plan calls for monitoring the county’s future community center needs and developing additional facilities as needed, providing funding is available.
