How do I avoid long waiting lines at the DMV?
Both DMV locations offer a line queuing system that offers customers options to waiting in line by providing line status updates through cell phone text messages. The service is available for renewing a vehicle tag or titling a vehicle. First, customers need to go to one of the two locations where they can use the touch screen kiosks at the front of each location.
You can leave the DMV and monitor your cell phone for updates when your turn is approaching. You will receive a text message 15 minutes before you reach the front of the line. If the wait time is less than 20 minutes, you receive a paper ticket instructing you to wait until your number is called.
If the wait time is more than 20 minutes, you get the option to enter your cell phone number (the last four digits will become your ticket number).
