As of Oct. 11, 2016, there are eight confirmed travel-associated cases of Zika virus infection in Johnson County. All individuals had travel history to countries with local Zika virus transmission.
With ongoing widespread outbreaks in the Americas and the Caribbean including Puerto Rico, there have been hundreds of Zika cases among travelers visiting or returning to the mainland United States. This number will continue to grow. And because many Zika cases are mild or without symptoms, there are likely many unreported cases.
