South Park: One School's Integration Story - In partnership with South Park Elementary School, the Johnson County Museum created this exhibition recounting the 1948-49 struggle for equal education at South Park. Their efforts resulted in the integration of schools in Northeast Johnson County -- five years before the historic U.S. Supreme Court ruling of Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education. The exhibit was dedicated in 2002 at South Park Elementary; when the school closed, the exhibit was moved to the new school Merriam Park Elementary where it remains on view.
