HeartSafe Community Program

HeartSafe Image

Started in 2014, the Johnson County HeartSafe program promotes County-wide CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) education.  It stresses awareness of the 911 system, recognition of signs and symptoms of a heart attack and cardiac arrest, as well as the need for early CPR and AED use.  Utilization of Hands-Only CPR can make a difference in the outcomes of those affected by sudden cardiac arrest.

It is the goal of Johnson County HeartSafe to have schools incorporate CPR education for every student in at least one designated grade.  We also encourage CPR education for all County employees.

Through partnerships with Fire Departments and Hospitals, as well as community members in the Johnson County area, the organization has helped reach over 40,000 citizens with Hands-Only CPR thus far.

If you are interested in more information about how you can volunteer with the Johnson County HeartSafe Foundation, please visit our website at www.JoCoHeartSafe.org .
