An old-fashioned Lanesfield School Country Christmas is being celebrated in December at the Lanesfield Historic Site with the opportunity to experience a traditional 1904 holiday, including writing a letter to Santa with pen and ink and finding olden stocking stuffers.
The free drop-in program will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays on Dec. 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30.
The session on Saturday, Dec. 2, will include a special Christmas concert in the schoolhouse with the Edgerton Rainbow Connection Children’s Choir. The performance begins at 1:30 p.m. followed by a visit from Santa, crafts and free refreshments.
Operated by Johnson County Museum, the Lanesfield Historic Site, 18745 S. Dillie Road, Edgerton, features a one-room limestone schoolhouse, the last remaining structure in the bygone town of Lanesfield. The schoolhouse has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988.
The Johnson County Museum is a department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
