Be a part of the Monarch migration

This week Johnson County Park and Recreation District has activities around the migration of the Monarch butterfly population. Join in these activities and be part of this royal fun!

50 Plus Monarch Migration and Tagging
Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 10–11:30 a.m.
Ernie Miller Nature Center, 909 N. K-7 Highway, Olathe, KS 66061

Learn about the incredible journey of these regal butterflies while engaging in a tagging demonstration. Receive three tags to tag butterflies in the park or on your own. Bring your walking shoes and enjoy the trails after the event.

Celebrate the Monarch butterfly’s amazing annual migration. Join this even that involves capturing, tagging, and releasing them to continue their journey to Mexico. Learn about these amazing insects and other native butterflies. Be sure to wear long pants to protect your legs and closed-toe shoes to protect your feet. JCPRD has a limited number of insect nets, so you are welcome to bring your own. You will also receive tags to take home.

This informative and interactive event is just $5 per person in advance (including adults) or $7 per person (on site) on the day of event. Registration for this event closes on Sept. 21. This program is recommended for ages 8 and older, and all children must be accompanied by parent or guardian, or one adult chaperone per group of five.
