Golfers who come to Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD) golf courses on the weekend of Sept. 4 through 7 will be asked to consider giving a donation to help ensure the future of families of wounded or fallen soldiers.
This will be the ninth year the local courses join in the nationwide observation of Patriot Golf Days. All proceeds will go to The Folds of Honor Foundation, which awards scholarships to the children of military members who have been seriously disabled or have given their lives in combat in Afghanistan or Iraq. This event began in 2007 and was hugely successful, raising more than $1.1 million from 3,200 golf facilities nationwide. More than $2,000 has been collected during previous events at the local courses alone.
JCPRD courses include the Tomahawk Hills Golf Course at 17501 Midland Drive in Shawnee and the Heritage Park Golf Course at 16445 S. Lackman Road in Olathe.
The JCPRD's activities catalog is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For updated program listings, visit the District's website at jcprd.com. Please note that county offices are closed Monday, Sept. 7 for the Labor Day holiday.
