There are several opportunities for family-friendly fun through the Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) available this weekend. Tonight attend A Trail of Stardust - the Perseid Meteor Shower at TimberRidge Adventure Center (12300 South Homestead Lane in Olathe). The event will begin at 10 p.m. with a 45-minute interpretive educational program about the meteor shower followed by another hour of self-guided stargazing. The cost is $9 per person for Johnson County residents and $10 for nonresidents; register by calling 913-764-7759 before 5 p.m. today.
Like to fish? The summer’s final overnight fishing opportunity at Kill Creek Park will take place Saturday, Aug. 15. After 11 p.m., Kill Creek Park Lake (11670 Homestead Lane in Olathe) will be open strictly for fishing and park police officers will be on duty throughout the night.
