With several weeks of summer left before school starts, you may be looking for something new to do with your kids. Why not try a volunteer opportunity with a Johnson County Government department or agency? Here are some suggestions.
Kids and their families can volunteer in the WIC community garden each Tuesday from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
Children are welcome to accompany their parents or grandparents who volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels. Kids can also brighten a senior’s day by decorating a Meals on Wheels lunch bag or making a small craft like a bookmark, card or placemat.
Teens who are 14 and older can volunteer at a Johnson County Library.
If you are at least 14 years old check out the volunteer opportunities at The Theatre in the Park.
If you are at least 16 years old you can volunteer for Johnson County Developmental Supports and help those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Teens who are at least 16 can also volunteer at one of our food pantries or nutrition sites.
